All photos in this gallery were taken & contributed by Brian Bogardus.

These photos were taken between September 1976 and September 1978 while Brian was aboard Midway with a VQ-1 detachment. The squadron was home ported out of Guam, but supplied EA-3Bs to all the carriers in West Pac. Because Midway was a smaller ship, she carried only one VQ-1 aircraft, while the larger deck carriers, such as Enterprise, etc. received detachments with two planes. Brian completed two six-month assignments with the Midway detachment. Whenever the ship left port for two weeks or more the squadron deployed with it. The Navy's official squadron history for VQ-1 can be found at: http://vq-1.ahf.nmci.navy.mil/index.htm. Brian doesn't remember if the squadron's nickname of World Watchers was in use during the time he was aboard the Midway, explaining that the air boss always called out, "Here comes Peter Rabbit!" when the EA-3B was coming in to land. This was their nickname because of the squadron's tail code of "PR."
