Stopping in San
Francisco Bay
Are you folks aware
that the Midway is scheduled to stop at berth 68 Port of Oakland
for 90 day "touch up" ?
I am a volunteer on the USS Hornet and we have been "alerted" that
linesmen and "chippers" will be needed for the "project".
Astoria Oregon shipyard "Cascade General" declined the "bid" for
"prep" work due in condition that project was excessive of their
capability........ Supposedly on completion of release protocol in
Bremerton the ship should be arriving here the week of October
11th to 19th. |

I was aboard the
Midway from 1973 when she left San Fran for Japan until I was
discharged in Sept. of 1974.
My experiences onboard, the friends I made, and places I saw were
some of the best memories of my life. |

Found your site by
looking for painting schemes for my models, very nice site, thank
you for your effort. Never having been in the service, I am still
a fanatic on ships, especially carriers and battleships. Thanks
again. |

I was an enlisted Marine at
MCAS El Toro in 1956 and 1957. My MOS was 3500 Motor Transport. My last
assignment was that of Staff Driver for Brig. General Thomas Dawson,
Commanding General, 3 MAW. It was a most interesting assignment. Until his
recent death, I was also a personal friend of Col. Bob Moser of MCAS El
Toro. |

Hi
Just came across your photos of Brawdy and wanted to say what a delight it
was to see them. I was a young RAF pilot officer air traffic controller at
Brawdy from 85-88 and remember the place with great fondness. I certainly
remember working the Air Days (including the crash where I was being
interviewed by BBC Radio Wales at the time!) Thanks for bringing back many
memories.
Cheers

Troy, your website is very
good! Bravo Zulu, shipmate!
I especially enjoyed the lack of clutter and the clean appointments you
have done on the Website. It truly is worthy of Jake's 'Yankee Station'-
USS Hancock CV/CVA-19 Memorial's Big E for Excellence Award! Look for it
soon!

Came across your site while
researching a question about the Midway. Great site. You have done a
wonderful job of compiling material about Midway, CVW-5 and the great
people who served on board. I was the C.O. of VAQ-136 when we moved from
Whidbey to Midway in Feb 1980. Unfortunately, I wasn't on board very long,
but I did enjoy the short time I was there. Best regards. |
