I was wondering about any sailors who served on the Midway during June 1991 around that time you should have been in the Philippines and a volcano erupted and I was about one and a half years old when my mother and I boarded for evacuation, anyway my mother tells me that while we were on board I became a bit sick and a sailor gave me a dress that he had bought for his own daughter so I was wondering if anyone knows who I'm talking about or it's you so I would just like to thank you. I was lucky enough to have the Midway as my first ship, I checked on board Jan 14, 1990 and stayed with her until Dec 1991 in San Diego. I have been to 4 other commands since the Gray Lady but my greatest memories of the Navy have always been about her.

Plankowner, Went aboard during commissioning, served in CAG-74, VB-74, VA-1B until March 48. She still had her straight deck.

I was in VF-161 in 1960 when it was in Cecil Field, FL. The squadron then transferred to Key West. We were involved in the Bay of Pigs invasion in Cuba. We then transferred to San Diego, California where we made deployments on the USS Oriskany. I left VF-161 in 1962 as A ADJ2. Retired in 1977. Live in Easley SC.

I am a plankowner. Served on the Mighty Midway CVB-41 in VB-74 and VA-1B between the time she was commissioned and 11 March 1948 when the squadrons were transferred to the Coral Sea CVB-43.
