On September 13th of this year my wife and I revisited the USS Midway in San Diego, California. Although the ship had gone through much renovation in the late 60's, many sights jolted my memories back to 1963, 64, & 65 when I was aboard the Midway with VA-23 and where I served as a plane captain. I recommend that If you ever get to southern California, that you take the Midway tour--It will bring back a flood of memories.

Crew member from 1985-1988. I was assigned to V-1 Division as an undesignated airman and worked the flight deck with some of the most craziest, hardworking, hardpartying, men I've ever had the privilege of being associated with. I was a wild S.O.B. from Detroit and The US Navy and especially the USS Midway saved my life. I am so so very proud to say that I was a United States sailor aboard such a grand ship. Even though my berthing area was directly under the #2 catchwire, drinking nasty de-salinated water that was warm, constantly losing shower water, and working 22 hour days/nights, and we cant forget the cockroaches everywhere, I wouldn't think twice about doing it all over again. All my USS Midway brothers...I SALUTE YOU!!!

I was stationed on the Midway 80 to 83 with VAW-115. Those years stationed on the Midway were the most exciting time in my life. I will always have fond memories of my tour. I was stationed aboard the Indy in Japan and it was not the same as Midway Magic. I am so proud to say " I was a Midway Sailor". I will always cherish my Midway experiences for a life time.
