I served in S-2
Division 1969-1971 with Roger Frost (two entries below). I have
hung out on several other Midway pages and rekindled several old
acquaintances. I was at the museum dedication in June.
Those were the days. I saw CDR White in Herndon until he died in
the early 80's. And of course Admiral Carroll on Channel 7. Does
anybody remember Dan Quayle's brother Chris in the Marine
detachment? Best to all.

I served aboard USS
MIDWAY CVA-41 in 1965 working a variety of jobs on the Port &
Starboard Catapults. I worked mainly as a Catapult shot recorder,
Waterbrake man on the Port Catapult and catapult runout operator.
I was injured in February of 1965 and returned from Oak knoll
hospital in Oakland in June 1965. I was highlined aboard from the
USS PYRO (AE24) off the coast of Vietnam and resumed my duties on
the Port Catapult. I have been in contact with the following crew
members, Larry Konkol, Bill Eudy, DeWayne Michaelis, Lonnie
Harralson, Mike Harrallson, Ralph Huddleston, Rick Kraft Junior,
Trigger Trimnell and Buddy Polhamus. We would also like to hear
from Thomas Krause, Teddy Sunderland, Robert Taylor (AKA) CASH,
Wayne Herron,Bill George (WW) and anyone else that might recognize
the above names. |

I served from 1985 to
1988 as part of V-3 Division. I can truly say that those were the
best years of my life. Thank you USS Midway and your amazing crew
for the experiences that can never be learned in college or
anywhere else in the world. May God bless all of you and your
families. |

I was on board the
Midway as a PH2 with my squadron VF-73 from November 1953 until
September 1954, and may have some photos you could use. May take
me a while to find them but will be back in contact later.
I've really enjoyed this short visit to your site tonight and
definitely will be back.

I was one of the many
that were evacuated during the Pinatubo eruption in 1991 (chalk
41) and I wanted to thank all of the crew that were on board at
that time.
The author of this web page mentions that the crew merely provided
three hots and a cot but it was much much more than that. They
were friendly and comforting to an invasion of Air Force personnel
who had just walked away from everything they owned...I'm glad
that when she was decommissioned, she wasn't scrapped. I need to
get down there and see her again. Thanks again Midway. |
