Hi, I am trying to locate an individual who was on the Midway during April/May of 1975. He helped a family that I am very close with and they have been trying to locate him for years to thank him for his unbelievable kindness while aboard the Midway. He has sent pictures and letters signed "Midway Bob" from years ago, however, we aren't sure of his full name or contact info. His name is either Bob (Robert) Calderwood (or Dalderwood) as we can best tell from the pictures he sent. He is the man holding the cargo net on the right side of this page from your website:

Any help that you could provide with regards to name or contact info for "Midway Bob" would be truly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Great site! Thank you for putting together such a complete collection of Naval history. I never saw the Midway in person; was an east coast squid, my ship was the America. I'm grateful to see Midway live on as a testament to what we as sailors have done.

Hey ole Arabs;

I am still alive and can never forget the best damn A-6 Squadron and ship the Navy ever had.

We showed those other outfits how to do it with our "Espirt de Corps" and pride plus coming together as a team.

If you know any more emails please send 'em to me.

GOD BLESS;

Served with V-2 Division, Catapults from 1989-1992. Loved the time I spent launching and recovering aircraft. That Midway will always have a place in my heart for the rest of my life.

Was on board the Midway from 79 to 81, assigned to V1 Div as rescueman #1 on the Crash & Salvage crew. GONZO STATION, 200 Hostages, N. Korea - S. Korea, The CACTUS Incident and more. So you might say that the memories are enough for a lifetime and they were all worth it. Wouldn't change it for the world.

Can remember the rescue of the civilian helo that went down and the Midway came to the rescue of both the helo and it's 17 survivors.

It was an HONOR to have served on the GREATEST SHIP MIDWAY MAGIC CAN DO

Also, does any one out there know the whereabouts of Paul Foster?

My ex husband was stationed on the USS Midway during the 70's. The pics of the Bob Hope show were similar to the ones he took. I wish I had more photos of his years in the Navy. I set foot myself on the Midway a few times as a Navy wife in those years. I would like to know if John Njaa knew Paul Flowers. One of the pictures in the Philippine group looks a bit like my ex.
