It was my privilege to
serve aboard the great U.S.S. Midway late 1946 through early 1948
in the Supply Div. Enjoyed the 1947 Med. Cruise and remember the
V-2 rocket launch and a hurricane. Am always on the lookout for
old shipmates. |

I went aboard Midway
upon it's arrival at Yokosuka in 1973. I was the Ground Support
Equipment or IM-4 Division Chief. I enjoyed my tour aboard Midway
and even returned for another tour in 1977 to 78. Would like to
hear from any of my former shipmates. |

Just want to thank all
the great people who have worked on the MIDWAY, since it moved to
San Diego. Made my first visit (Sept 9th & 10th 2005). I was
really impressed the way they treat all visitors and former crew
members. As a former crew member, I was welcomed aboard with the
ringing of the ship's bell, a special name tag, & invited to sign
the guest log book. The people who do all the work, from the time
I went aboard til I left the ship, I was treated with a lot of
respect. If you have not visited the USS MIDWAY, you are really
missing out on something. I was proud to have served aboard
MIDWAY. Anyone who I passed on the street in San Diego & saw me
wearing my Midway ball-cap, stopped and thanked me and stated what
a wonderful museum, the MIDWAY was. THANK YOU >>>Mr. David Hanson;
Mr. John Njaa; & Mr. Troy Prince, for what you and the volunteers,
who have worked on the MIDWAY. I wish I lived in San Diego, so I
could work on her, or just visit. So shipmates, save your pennies
and plan a trip to San Diego, to see the USS MIDWAY. Even my wife
shed a few tears with me, on the great ship. |

I was with VA-115 from
12/88 to 1/92. Did the cross deck to Indy...hated it...then went
on to AIMD Atsugi for
3 1/2 years. I was in 620 up-stairs and remember you from Midway
and AIMD. I'm looking for "Kat" from GSE, she was there from 92-95
...if anybody knows anything about her where-abouts, I'd love to
hear it. Glad things are well with you. Thanks for the memories
dude!

I worked on the Midway
and the Independence as a Government Civil Servant with the Supply
Department. I made a number of underway trips on both and had the
pleasure of decommissioning the Midway in 1992 and the Indy in
1998. They both were great ships in their time. |

Very nice site!!!
Actually I had a chance to tour Midway sometime in 1984. We were
escorted by my dad's friend, his name is "Mike", I forgot his
surname. If by any chance Mike can read my comment he's welcome to
email me. I'll start looking for pictures of Midway in my storage
room, and hopefully it will be added to this very exciting
website. |

Served in AIMD-IM3
ComNav from 88-90. Was there for the 24 degree roll, the big fire,
bombing the Reeves, and all sorts of fun. Served with Mark
Schwinden, Mike Gary, Mark Flake, (oni), Jason Fletcher, Max Fox,
Dan Woda, Eric Davis, Matt Christie (Tyson) and a bunch of other
lunatics. Saw the ship in San Diego. The IM3 berthing is open,
although they have changed it around a bit. |

Served on Midway from
9/73 to 12/93 USMC Squadron VMCJ-1 Det 101. Looking for
information about midair collison between an EA-6A and an A-7
during these dates. A helicopter sent out that night crashed
shortly after takeoff and decapitated a crewman aboard it who
tried to jump out. |
