Midway Jan 1981-Dec 1982 as an Intelligence Specialist. A former
shipmate, Chuck Webb (IS3), and I hope to visit the old boat soon.

I was stationed aboard her during the Vietnam era at Yokosuka,
Japan in 1974-76 as a Machinist Mate in Engine Room #4 and also
kept watches on Evaporators and #4 Generator Room and Shaft Alley
#4. I was surprised to see her retired, you see she is as old as i
am. She was commissioned in 1945, the same year I was born. I went
aboard her after a tour in the Army and the First Calvary Division
in the A-Sha Valley by the DMZ and I was on her when she was off
the coast of Vietnam by the gun line, once by land and twice by
sea. She was a gallant lady. I have fond memories of her and her
crew. Anyone in #4 Engine Room who was there is welcome to contact
me on my e-mail. Would like to hear from any BT’s or MM’s about
the time the F-4’s were going off her cats to Vietnam or from
anyone knowing BT Geane Hardison. By the way I am also retired
through the gov. Will close for now! |

Jan 1959 as a AA and went to OP became a SM2 left the ship for
discharge April 1962 in Japan. Came back to states in a DC-6. |
