I served aboard the Midway on westpac 1965 with HU1. I have a lot of memories of the Midway, some fond and some not so fond. As the evacuation of the USS Frank Knox after it ran aground on a reef. We removed 155 personnel from the Knox and everyone came up the rescue hoist. And riding out a typhoon with 100 mph wind across the deck.

I served aboard from 1978-1981 in S-1 division. One Hell of a place to grow up. I wish I could go back to sea on her and see all of the ports that we visited or meet the friends that I once knew. If they ever bring her back let me know I'll serve on her again.....proudly

aka "Scotty" YN3 X-Division, Served aboard 1974 to 1976. Onboard for Operation Frequent Wind.
Would like to hear from my old shipmates again. I visited the Midway again after 30yrs, seeing her again brought back a lot of memories long forgotten. She is the finest & newest Aircraft Carrier Museum. San Diego is very lucky to have her home again where she belongs. Just wish I lived closer to see her more often.

My dad Thomas Rice served on the Midway 1941 to 1945. My dad passed away 10/2004. Always talked about his navy days. Will be visiting the ship the week of July 15th with my family. Have a picture of the crew and my dad in his uniform. How do I go about getting this on display? Thanks
