I served onboard the "USS Never Dock"
from 1984 thru 1986. In hindsight... it was one of the better
times of my life. Hello to anyone from VA-56 !!!!!!!!! |

Did my last Med. cruise on the Midway
in 1954. That was the cruise when the supply ship, I think it was
a tanker rammed us on the starboard side just aft of midship. The
accident tore up two or three 5" .54 cal guns and some 40mm quads.
I have some pictures somewhere. My buddy told me that the Captain
was represented by then LT. Homer Smith, a pilot from my squadron.
He got the captain off the hook by showing the compass had
malfunctioned
I was an AO2 in VF-33. Our tail letter was K, and even though we
were VF-33, our planes were numbered 201, 202, etc. because also
on board was VC-33 and they didn't want conflicting numbers. |

I served as Assistant Legal Officer
aboard the Midway from 6/54 through de-commissioning 7/55, during
which Midway transferred from Norfolk to West Pac. I published a
book entitled By George, which describes adventures during
that round-the-world cruise. I would like to contact shipmates. |

I was on the USS Midway from
1980-1984. I was on Gonzo station. This ship was a strong ship -
went through typhoons. I was an AO with VA-115. I got stabbed in
the P.I. and now all is ok. |

Served on board 1958-1961 as a Radarman
in OI Div. Visited the ship Sept 2006. It's nice to know the ship
is not going to be made into razors or an ocean reef. |

Was onboard about the same time as
you, 1978-80. Was an IC-2 in Air Dept, V-2 div assigned to the
Plat Lens shop. worked on the LSO platform, Set the Lens in Pri
Fly next to the BOSS, and ran and maintained the Plat TV and
Fresnal Lens in the shop. Your stories are remarkable and similar.
Today I am an MRI and CT scanner field service engineer for
Philips Medical. On Nov 28 my oldest son is going to Great Lakes
for Boot camp, I hope he earns some fond memories and meets a Lady
like Miss Magic. |
