I was a Medic at the 95th Evacuation Hospital in Da Nang. In Oct 1972 I was on duty when I got a call saying that a plane crashed on the Midway and 5 were killed and 23 injured. They came to the hospital and I worked on the injured there. We were rocketed in the early hours of that day and I remember putting my body on top of one of the injured. Thank you for serving.

Served on Midway, G-1 Weps from August 86' to July 87', G-5 August 87' to July 91'. So many things I miss about the five years I spent onboard Midway. I miss the 0200-0400 mag watch and the weenie wagon. I don't miss the Delta working parties or ship's laundry though!

Great site! I served onboard Midway from Nov. '77 till Feb '80 with VA-93 as an AD and TAD to CAG-5 LOX crew as the CVW-5 LOX PO in '78 prior to making AD1. Transferred to CFWP Atsugi upon leaving Midway and was assigned to NALCO and NIPPI until Mar. '83

I found another Midway shipmate. We had a nice visit a few weeks ago. His name is AMS1 ROY GROVES. We were in AIMD & pulled liberty together. It sure makes a guy feel good, to find a shipmate and sit down for a few cool ones and talk about the MIDWAY & all the great guys we knew.

Was aboard from May to Aug. of 59 in OA Div., then transferred. Transferred back in Aug. of 61 - July of 62 in V4. Worked the roof a while, then gas pump.

I was a Gunners Mate Second Class. Was on the Midway for about a month in 1957. I transferred from the Coral Sea when she was decommissioned at Bremerton and went on the Midway in San Diego. Came down with an ear infection and was sent the Hospital. When I got out the Midway had sailed and I was transferred to the Mothball Fleet.

Served on the grand lady from 80-82. Went to amphibs after that, but it wasn't the same. Too much plastic on the newer ships! I guess it's like they say, you fall in love with your first ship. I still go and see her every chance I get. You know you're old when they turn your ship into a museum and the barracks you used in boot camp into a shopping plaza!
