I served on the USS Midway CVA-41 from March 3rd 1970 to August 28th 1973. I served two tours of Vietnam in 1971 and 1972. I served in the Commissary, Deck 2, Deck 4, and the AIMD (Aviation Intermediate Maintenance Department) Jet Shop. -In that order. Since my years back home I have met personnel from the 1944 Plank owner, someone from 1960 tour, I was on in 1970, and one man from the 1989 decommissioning in Japan.

I am searching for anyone that knew my Dad, his name was AME2/1 John 'Bub' Bates. He served on the USS Midway from '74 - '76. He passed away when him and his crews plane crashed in Japan. Just looking talk to anyone that knew him or have pictures of him. I am currently in the Navy myself and I am an IT1. Thanks
