USS Midway

Midway's Hangar

In this photo, the aircraft has had its propeller, wings, canopies, and some
body panels temporarily removed, but is in very good condition for its age.

The restoration volunteers had to acquire or reconstruct some of the missing
body panels, like the one in yellow which joins the wing to the fuselage.

At one time, the side panels of the SNJ were open, so you
could see what the interior of a WWII aircraft looked like.

The aircraft was once painted as a T-6 for a role in a movie called Swing
Shift
, starring Goldie Hawn as a Rosie the Riveter-type character.
